Garden Trio Kits are very compact mini garden kits with physical dimensions of 12 × 4 × 4.5 inches (~30.5 x 10.2 x 11.5 cm) and featuring three growing positions.
Garden Trio Kits by Urban Leaf are popular indoor growing kits that don't require much space but offer people an opportunity to grow their own berries and herbs at home.
Setting up the mini-garden is very easy - unpack everything very carefully and read the instructions.
Dehydrated soil discs must be placed in a wide bowl with water - after hydration, place the soil in pots, plant the seeds, mark each pot using plant markers and place the planter box on your windowsill that gets at least 6+ hours of direct sunlight per day.
Few notes: this mini garden kit contains seeds for strawberries, peppers, and tomatoes - these three plants are easily recognizable and plant markers are generally not required. However, it is good practice to make a habit of marking each planted pot, because sooner or later, there are going to be very similar plants growing around and distinguishing which one is growing where can become difficult - been there, done that :)
Taking Care of Your Plants
Watering: watering depends on the local conditions like air humidity and temperature. It is good practice to keep the soil moist, but not wet - water the plants 2-3 times per week, just be sure not to over-water or let the dry-out.
Self-pollination: since this is an indoor garden, there are no bees to pollinate the flowers. In order to enjoy tasty fruits, take a small brush, and pollinate the flowers manually.
Pests and diseases: In order to avoid pests and disease, keep your hands clean and position the plants where there are no other plants with pests and diseases. If you notice the pests and diseases on the plants, consider using natural non-toxic remedies that can be purchased at online and local gardening stores.
Sunlight: for the plants to grow properly, mini garden must be placed on the windowsill facing south (or north, if you live 'down under') and that offers the plants at least 6 hours of sunlight per day. Also, windowsills facing south-east or south-west are good as well.
But, if you don't have such conditions, there is no need to give up on indoor gardening - one can use grow lights to provide the plants with all the light they need.
And with the LED lights being cheaper and even more efficient over the years, growing the plants using LED grow lights isn't going to cost a small fortune.
Personally, the easiest option for people wanting to start indoor gardening is getting a plug-and-play LED grow light lamp. The following charts list some of the most popular models on Amazon:
