How to Make a Banana Blueberry Smoothie

Just put the required ingredients in suitable tall pot (shaker, as usual, in my case):

- blueberries - great source of vitamins, minerals, antioxidants and digestive fibers. Also, they are good source of medium complex carbs - important for keeping energy levels on required level, even when one is on a diet.

- medium sized banana - rich in potassium and relatively simple carbs that are easily digested, providing starting energy.

- low fat or cottage cheese - source of calcium and slow digesting protein (casein). Also, it makes smoothie more fulfilling and postpones hunger for long period of time.

Note: Be sure to use cheese with low amounts of sodium, since some of the brands can be loaded with sodium - read labels and use your own judgement.

Instead of low fat or cottage cheese, one can use ordinary or low-fat yogurt, Greek yogurt, fruit yogurts etc.

Add water or milk and using hand blender, mix everything.

Be sure to protect yourself from droplets - stains from berries are really hard to clean from clothes and other surfaces.

During summer, feel free to use less water or milk to get thicker smoothie - after 30-60 minutes in freezer, you will have great tasting, healthy and very refreshing ice cream.

If you don't want to wait that long, put few ice cubes into the shaker before blending and blend everything - cold and refreshing smoothie is prepared :)

Such smoothies can be consumed with a spoon or one can drink them right out of shaker - if you want to eat them (recommended), make smoothies thicker, but if you are in the hurry, make them thinner and drink them right after blending.

Adding dark chocolate powder, crumbs or chips can improve the taste even further.
